Golf clubs on the Niagara Peninsula in Southern Ontario are currently struggling to keep their heads above water and remain financially viable in the face of an over-saturated market and declining number of rounds played.

Founding Principal Stephen Johnston commented on the topic, explaining the necessity of full-scale evaluation, a universal marketing plan, and industry-wide cohesion between the various cross-functional entities seeking to maintain golf in the area. Without this the highly competitive Niagara market may be susceptible to a “slow death,” according to Johnston.

Don’t Panic… Plan! – DeLozier on Preparing Clubs for Crisis

Henry DeLozier’s latest advice for Golf Course Industry Magazine and club leaders focuses on accepting the inevitability of crisis and catastrophe at clubs. Instead of fearing the worst and hoping it doesn’t happen, DeLozier encourages leaders to expect crisis in such a way that various contingencies and support structures are premeditated, organized, and ready to be actualized at a moment’s notice.

Be smart, be practical, and most importantly, know where the fire extinguisher is before the building is on fire.
